Newfoundland is blessed to have a large variety of everything. On this tour you will get a glimpse into the wildlife, natural treasures, and interesting geology. Then try your hand at fishing the rivers which teem with salmon.







Tour Description

Operated Sunday to Friday

Day 1
Arrive in St. Anthony or Deer Lake Dinner at Tuckamore Lodge (depending upon flight arrival time) with an introduction to the unique culture and history of the Great Northern Peninsula. Learn about the innovative conservation projects currently in progress. Spend your first night at Tuckamore where you will be able to listen to loons on the lake adjacent to the lodge.

Day 2
Up bright and early to fish for the renown Atlantic salmon, then back to the lodge for rest. Boat tour of Hare Bay to see whales, seabirds and icebergs, includes a short walk along the seashore. Ice will be taken from the bergs and used in your refreshments.

Day 3
Enjoy early Morning salmon fishing on the River. In tyhe afternoon take a hike to the Underground Salmon Pool, a unique natural attraction in the region, accompanied by our guide, spot the salmon as they enter the underground river on their journey upstream. See where the river resurfaces on its route to the Long Range Mountains.

Day 4
Visit the outport community of Conche and board a boat to see whales, icebergs seals and the dramatic costal cliffs with nestiong seabirds. Enjoy a pack lunch and hike with a local guide to The Glass Hole or a cascading waterfall. Return to Tuckamore Lodge for a light snack and set out for an early evening on the river. Back to the lodge for a late dinner.

Day 5
Salmon fishing in the morning. In the afternoon take a trip to Burnt Cape Ecological Reserve for a glimpse at some of our rare plant species that are found only in Newfoundland. Take your camera because Burnt Cape in addition to its rare plants is an ideal location for viewing icebergs,whales, seabirds and an occassional polar bear. Back to the Lodge for an evening meal.

Day 6
Out for an early morning cast. Prepare for your trip home.

Tour Includes

Includes pickup and return to Deer Lake or St. Anthony Airport. Deer Lake is a 4-hour drive through the Gros Morne National Park and St. Anthony Airport is a beautiful scenic 20-minute drive to the lodge. Accommodations, meals, boats and canoes, guides (2x1), truck transportation to all fishing pools when necessary, all pack out lunches, preparing your fish to take home are all included. Smokers available.

License Fees For: Individual $80.00 or Family $125..00

Price:

$2,990 Canadian per person
Harmonized Sales and Service Tax (HST) of 13% must be paid to the lodge for all trips with a 6.5% rebate to non-Canadian residents.

This itinerary can be altered. If there is something you see listed in the Eco Tours and Heritage Sites itinerary that interests you, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your requests! Make your stay for one week, 10 days or two weeks. We have great local music and in the summer months there is dancing at our local pub. If you enjoy this type of entertainment, we will take you! Daily Rates: $498 Canadian/per day One on one guide: $250 extra per week. NOTES: Great fishing in July and August. Excellent fishing first three weeks of July. Catch and release / Average number is 9-12 salmon per day. Beautiful secluded Scandinavian-style accommodations in a relaxing wilderness setting with spacious rooms, Jacuzzi, sauna and local art.
